 Welcome to Season 2022- 2023

(Please click to see our Autumn  2022 arrangements)

We are a group of enthusiastic amateur musicians who come together to play as the Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra (EMGO). The orchestra has been established since 2008, and our aims are

  • to enable mandolin and guitar players to play music together;
  • to encourage the study of our instruments and music through the development of repertoires, technique, and musical understanding; and
  • to promote public awareness through concerts and recitals.

Our instruments are from the plucked string family – mainly (but not exclusively) mandolins, mandolas and guitars – and our repertoire is drawn from a wide range of musical genres spanning classical to popular, baroque to contemporary, and dipping into many different cultures along the way.

We rehearse every Thursday from 7.00 to 8.30 pm at the Edinburgh Society of Musicians, 3 Belford Road, Edinburgh.

EMGO’s weekly rehearsals are being taken by Michael Graham as Musical Director. Michael studied at the University of Edinburgh and has special interest in conducting and composition. He enjoys varied engagements career with orchestral and choral groups throughout Scotland and the wider UK.
