Edinburgh Mandolin & Guitar Orchestra

Formed in 2007, the Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra (EMGO) was founded by Nigel Gatherer, who is their musical director and is one of Scotland's leading mandolin players and teachers. The orchestra enjoys music from Scotland to Latin America, from the Beatles to classical.

The pieces are generally in 4 or 5 parts: 1st, 2nd and 3rd mandolins; mandolas and guitars. The orchestra is a friendly group with people of all ages. Playing with it is fun and a great way to develop playing and music-reading skills. The orchestra puts on, or takes part in, a few concerts each year.

New members are always very welcome; look at the contact page for further details.

For more information email the EMGO secretary.
